On World Water Day, Jessica launched a petition to end sewage dumping in our rivers and seas. This is a scourge that is affecting our waterways across the country with disastrous effects on our health and ecosystems.
Last year Bournemouth Pier recorded more than 50 pollution alerts. This is a scandal that needs to end.
Labour tried to bring in legislation that would end this scandal, but the Conservatives blocked it. Bournemouth West's local MP didn't even show up.
Labour's plan would:
Ban bonuses for water bosses responsible for sewage dumping
Introduce automatic fines for sewage dumping
Require mandatory monitoring of all sewage outlets across the country.
