This Saturday Dorset elected a new Police and Crime Commissioner alongside county council elections.
In BCP the results for the PCC election were as follows:
Conservatives - 20,782 votes
Labour - 14,325 votes
Independent - 13,624
Lib Dems - 6,754
Labour came a strong second in the BCP area, which demonstrates it is the only Party in both Bournemouth seats who can seriously take on the Conservatives at the next general election. Bournemouth East and Bournemouth West are target seats for Labour.
During the announcement of the results, David Stokes, Labour's candidate thanked his agent, Patrick Canavan, his media and communications lead and Jessica Toale, Labour's parliamentary candidate, for her support and advice.
Across the country the Labour Party has been winning in place it needs for a majority government after the next elections. After 14 years of the Conservatives, people are calling out for change. These local election results are a clear demonstration of the need to call a general election sooner rather than later.
There has been no better time than now for Labour to be successful in Bournemouth in the upcoming General election.
