Jessica on BBC Radio Solent

On Friday Jessica took part in a BBC Radio Solent Your Voice, Your Vote election debate with candidates from across Dorset including Vikki Slade and Tobias Ellwood.

The issues raised by listeners included the environment, crime, the NHS and immigration.

Jessica had a chance to set out many of Labour's manifesto commitment.

Labour has committed to a Green Prosperity Plan to boost our economy, launch GB energy, invest in the technologies of the future and get our bills down. This is a huge opportunity for UK industry to regain its world-leading status whilst meeting our net zero targets. We have also set out a strong countryside protection plan, action to tackle sewage dumping and end animal cruelty.

On crime, Jessica talked about her personal mission to make Bournemouth town centre a safer place for women and girls. Labour also has a mission to halve knife crime by introducing tougher sentences for possession, closing loopholes on sales and launching a Young Futures programme to support young people.

On the NHS, Labour has been clear about how it will fund measures to reduce NHS waiting times and in the long-term seek to bring more care back into the community, focus on prevention and introduce a National Care Service.

Finally, as part of its first steps for government, Labour has committed to setting up a Secure Border Command to tackle criminal gangs exploiting people and hiring 1000 case workers back into the home office to clear the asylum backlog and end hotel use. We also want to encourage businesses to train and hire more people in Britain to fill vacancies in local areas.

The show aired on BBC Radio Solent on Friday 21st June at 9am. You can watch back on iPlayer.
