Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner elections

On 2 May 2024 residents of Bournemouth West will have the opportunity to vote for a new Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset.

Labour's candidate is David Stokes, 63, was born and raised in Bournemouth. He is a father of three and works for a local construction company as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. He has been active in the local Labour party and his church for decades.

David is standing to improve safety on our streets and in particular to tackle violence against women and girls and drug dealing in the area. He said:

"As your Police and Crime Commissioner, I would work to see more police on the street. More neighbourhood and community policing working alongside specialist units to concentrate on violence against women and girls, drug dealing and serious violent crime."

Jessica is supporting David. She said:

"We have spoken to thousands of people across the constituency and crime is of the issues that comes up most frequently on the doorstep. People do not feel safe any more and this is not good enough. David has lived here his whole life and is dedicated to this community. He would serve the entire community and work with cooperation and partnership to get things done."

The Police and Crime Commissioner elections will take place on the 2nd May. The deadline to register to vote in this election is 11:59pm on 16 April. If you would like to apply for a postal vote you must do this by 5pm on 17 April.
